The Kleinhenz Moeller Foundation
About this time each year I have the joy of updating parishioners on the way and ways that the Kleinhenz-Moeller Foundation continues to support our parishes. The foundation began in 1994 by four family members. The Will of the founding members stated that the Foundations Assets should be used for the religious and educational purposes of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. The trustees of the foundation were given the discretion to use funds for other charitable organizations.
This year the Foundation has decided to support our parishes in three ways. First they have given $25,000 to support our Life Teen programs. Also they have given $25,000 to St. Joseph Church for the anticipated capital project to repave the parking lot after the house on the corner was purchased and demolished.
Finally the Foundation has given $10,000 to each parish for the general fund. This is a wonderful gesture and will benefit all four parishes. I would like to thank the trustees of the foundation for recognizing that many expenses in our Family of Parishes are shared. For example, most of our employees serve all four parishes. Their salaries are paid through a single parish and the other three parishes reimburse the other parish a certain percentage. This percentage is set annually by Pastoral Council.
Giving a gift to each parish is a new, and welcomed, development. It shows that not only are some of the expenses shared, but also charitable giving is shared between the four parishes. The gifts and treasures are shared between the four parishes. A single act of charity that effects all four parishes is a wonderful example. It shows yet another way that combining our resources, including charity, strengthens our Family of Parishes.
Speaking of generosity as a Family of Parishes, our seminarian intern from last year, Alex Dugas, was in a car wreck over his winter vacation. Overall he is fine. He has some soreness, but is doing alright. His car didn’t fare as well and was totaled. He is on the hunt for a new car, and I’m thinking that we could help him out.
We’ll be collecting money for Alex’s new car. You can simply place a donation in an envelope in the collection basket or drop it off at the parish office. If you would like to write a check, please make sure it is clearly indicated that it is for his new car. We’ll try to send him a check by the first of February so please donate as soon as you are able.
He doesn’t know that we are doing this, so please don’t spoil the surprise. Thank you very much for your generosity. Also please join me in thanking God for the generosity of the Kleinhenz-Moeller Foundation.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Sean Wilson
