The Eucharistic Revival
We have occasionally mentioned that the United States Bishops have instituted a three-year Eucharistic Revival. The revival kicked off in June 2022 and continues until June 2025. The mission of the Revival is “To renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.” What an exciting time to be Catholic! You can learn more about the national Eucharistic Revival at eucharisticrevival.org.
One aspect of the revival is a nation-wide pilgrimage this summer. There will be four different pilgrimage routes in the country. Think of this as a massive Eucharistic procession going across the country. Groups of pilgrims will be accompanying the Eucharist for hundreds of miles; think of the Marian Pilgrimage in our Archdiocese, but on a national level. To learn more about the Eucharistic Pilgrimage, go to eucharisticpilgrimage.org.
Part of the Eucharistic Pilgrimage will pass through our Archdiocese. The pilgrimage will be in Cincinnati on July 5-7, 2024. Check out the various ways to participate in the pilgrimage.
The endpoint of all four Eucharistic Pilgrimages is Indianapolis, Indiana for the National Eucharistic Congress. This will be the first national Eucharistic Congress in 83 years. There will be dynamic speakers, opportunities for workshops, and incredible events. The Congress will be July 17-21 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The website is: eucharisticcongress.org.
In our parishes, we will be raffling off a trip for four people to the Eucharistic Congress. The prize includes four tickets for the five-day Eucharistic Congress and a VRBO rental, which is a ten-minute walk from the congress. It is a $2,762.10 value. Tickets are $50 each and we are only selling 250 tickets. Non-parishioners are able to purchase tickets.
The proceeds of the ticket sales will be the first deposit in the new Holy Face of Jesus Parish bank account; the proceeds will benefit all of us. Tickets can be purchased at the parish office. The winning ticket will be drawn during Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7. Spread the word about this exciting raffle. I really hope that it will build a lot of exciting buzz surrounding the Eucharistic Revival.
Finally, Fr. Willig and I will be taking the opportunity to discuss the Eucharist in our homilies this week and next week. We want to reflect on the gift of the Eucharist and our response to such an immense gift. Also we will be talking about some difficult subjects, like when we shouldn’t receive the Eucharist and how to receive the Eucharist.
Our goal is to renew our belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. When we have this incredible awareness of Jesus in the Eucharist, we live differently and it motivates us to change our lives. May your love for Jesus in the Eucharist be ever new!
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Sean Wilson
